Historic Dutch colonial hotel, built in 1910 as the Hotel Oranje by the Sarkies Bros. Renamed Hotel Yamato during the Japanese occupation, it was the site of an incident in which Indonesians tore down the Dutch flag as the Japanese were being defeated and replaced it with an Indonesian flag (id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insiden_Hotel_Yamato). The hotel had fallen on hard times by the 1990s, when it was restored in 1996 and became part of the Mandarin Oriental chain for the next ten years.

Hotel Majapahit adalah sebuah gedung bersejarah di Jalan Tunjungan, Surabaya, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Dahulunya bernama LMS, lalu Hotel Oranje dan kemudian Hotel Yamato dan juga Hotel Hoteru. Sekarang Hotel Majapahit yang dibangun pada tahun 1910 oleh Sarkies Bersaudara dari Armenia tersebut sudah berubah menjadi hotel bintang lima dengan total 143 kamar di lantai satu dan dua.
Salah satu momen perjuangan di hotel ini terjadi pada 19 September 1945, yakni Insiden Bendera. Peristiwa bermula ketika sekelompok orang Belanda yang dipimpin Mr. Pluegman mengibarkan bendera Merah Putih Biru di puncak sebelah kanan hotel. Para pejuang Indonesia melakukan perobekan warna biru pada bendera Belanda, yang berwarna merah, putih dan biru, dengan demikian bendera itu menjadi merah putih yaitu bendera Republik Indonesia. Insiden bendera itu juga mengakibatkan terbunuhnya Mr. Pluegman.
