History: In 1863, Orville David Burr built for himself the house and bran. He was a carpenter by trade, and he used the barn as his carpentry shop. He also built several buildings in Chester center. His son, Frank Loomis Burr, later owned the house and barn. In the 1900s he built a two-story addition onto the house. there are murals on the walls inside the house, showing Frank Burr at different stages during his boyhood; they were painted by Marjorie Bishop, the daughter of Olver Bishop. Frank's son Orvile, nicknamed Obie, was teh next owner of the property. He renovated the barn into veterinary hospital in 1950; in 1975 he remodeled it into a residence. Both structures are now rentalproperties. Source: "The Houses & History of Chester", The Chester Historical Society, Inc., September 1984.
