"Northway"

USA / Connecticut / Greenwich / North Street, 406
residence, country house, movie / film / TV location, French Renaissance (architecture)

"Northway" or Petit Trianon Deux is a scaled down nearly identical copy of the original from Versailles. After receiving permission from the French government to replicate one of France’s national treasures, Laura Robinson, heiress to the Diamond Match and Goodyear Tire fortunes, hired New York architects, J.E.R. Carpenter and Walter D. Blair. Constructed between 1910 and 1913. The original was constructed in the 1760s for the mistress of King Louis XV, Madame de Pompadour. Later used as an escape by Marie Antoinette.

The mansion has been preserved on film. Several years ago Reverge Anselmo shot scenes for his film "Stateside," a romantic drama starring Val Kilmer and Carrie Fisher, at the mansion.
