Built by the Japanese as Shuntian Avenue, the main government boulevard of the purpose-built city of Shinkyo, or Hsinking, their capital for Manchukuo. Lined by the various government ministries, the Imperial Palace was built at the northern end, while the southern end was a square called Anmin Plaza.
