  • The indomitable chess team of DPS Mathura Road (J. Gautam, Iqbal Singh Gulati, Meharjot Singh Kals and Agamjot Singh Kals). The team whose average age is 9.5, is indeed a terror to deal with. In last two years it has won many laurels for its School. It is a team to watch for in contemporary Chess.

  • The chess team (Under-13) of DPS (Mathura Road) [(Gautam J (VIII-D), Iqbal Singh Gulati (VII-A), Meharjot Singh Kals (VI-A) & Agamjot Singh Kals (V-A)] is currently winners of CBSE Team chess championship-2007, North Zone-I held in September 2007 at Chandigarh.
  • In the recently held inter-DPS chess meet (06-09 May 2008 at Vadodara)DPS (Mathura Road) represented by Gautam J (VIII-D) and Iqbal Singh Gulati (VII-A) won Silver Medal. Scoring 7 out of 9 Gautam got Bronze Medal (individual). Kudos to the chaps.
  • 13 October 2008. Great day. DPS, Mathura Road retained its CBSE Team Chess Championship, Northern Zone-I for under-14 (boys) by winning the 2008 event (Held at Remal Public School, New Delhi during 11-13 Oct 2008) with an impressive score of 16.5 out of 20. The 4-member team had J Gautam (VIII-D) at Board I, Iqbal Singh Gulati (VII-A) at Board II, Meharjot Singh Kals (VI-A) at Board III and Agamjot Singh Kals (V-A) at Board IV. The indvidual scores were Gautam-4(3 wins and 2 draws); Iqbal-4.5 (4 wins and 1 draw); Meharjot-3(2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss); and finally Agamjot-5(5 wins). Agamjot won Board prize for Board number IV. This team hopes to repeat in the National Meet at Nagpur during 11-14 Dec 2008 with the wishes and support of all staff and students of our great school.
  • It is also pertinent to mention that the Girls team (under-14) which contested for the first time in this event (CBSE Zonal Team chess championship 2008) came 4th, and thus got qualified for playing National meet at Nagpur. Qudos to them too.
