fortification, UNESCO World Heritage Site
This 800 year old fort, exhibiting Tibetan architectural influence, was restored in the 1990's. Until the 1940's it was for centuries the home of the ruling Emir of the fiercely independent Hunza kingdom. Museum exhibits. The look of the immediately surrounding village is also little changed over the past 800 years.
