 town, former national capital
Town in Širvintos district municipality, administrative centre of eldership. It was the second Lithuania's capital from 1269 (or earlier) when grand duke Traidenis ruled the grand duchy. From 1281 the capital was removed into Trakai.
Today it's southern part of town is a UNESCO object.
