This is a gentle longboard break south of the pier in Capitola. Capitola can produce a very well-shaped, peeling longboard wave. It’s protected from the wind but as a result also misses out on a lot of swell. Capitola is a great place to go when the other spots in the area are blown out or are closing out. It works best during a large winter swell, and as the swell gets bigger, the peak moves farther outside. This in turn will make the right a much longer ride than the left. The beach here is filled with medium-size boulders, so entry and exit can be a little tricky at higher tides. Best Boards: Longboard.
