Working under Navy contracts on property leased from the Army, Reaction Motors Inc. conducted early experiments in liquid rocket propulsion and developed rocket engines for the Bell X-1, X-15 and NASA space vehicle thrusters. RMI was merged with Thiokol in 1958.
