  • History of Tobia Tobia (Colombia) is located in northwestern Cundinamarca on the eastern mountain range of Alpes among municipalities of Nimaima, Utica, La Peña and Quebradanegra. Tobia is flowed by Tobia River and Rionegro River. Tobia is at 730 m.a.s.l. its average temperature is 27 degree celcius. Tobia was baptized on June 29th 1939 on Saint Peter´s day by Aguilera Nava Father. Tobia for first intance began as a camp where the workers that were building the railroad from Bogota to Santa Marta, needed to rest after finishing their workday. Guillermo Osman established his pharmacy in front of this camp. Tobias Vasquez made the first trail from Vergara to Tobia in order to sell his coffee. Tobia was named in honor to Tobias Vasquez. Tobia was finally founded by Tobias Vasquez together with Ricardo Gomez Fernandez. The two first houses were made by Guillermo Osman and Aguilera Father. Aguilera Father organized farmers so that they sold their “panela” in that site; the “panela” was carried from Tobia to Bogota by train since there weren´t other ways in that time.
