It is also known as Rock Cemetery. This is a closed cemetery and is maintained by Nottingham City Council. Originally designed by Edwin Patchitt, a local solicitor and Clerk to the Cemetery. It was called Rock Cemetery because it occupies a site that was previously sand pits cut into the Nottingham sandstone rock from which it takes its name.
