Kempele Museum of Local History and Culture is located near the business centre on Kirkkotie-road. Its history begins in 1733 when a royal commander's official residence, "Hovila" was built on the site. This site was owned, after many eventful spells by Aappo Matturi until the municipality bought it and its buildings in 1975. The museum was opened in 1980. It is open from June to August.
The farmhouse reflects a typically north Ostrobothnian atmosphere. On the area there is also a so-called brother-in-arms house.
