All that is left of the former Coombe Maternity Hospital is the portico, which has been converted as a monument to all the tens of thousands of mothers who gave birth in the hospital that stood next to Keef's knacker's yard where dead horses were processed into glue. One can imagine the plight of the poor women - especially in summer with the ward windows open! The hospital has now been relocated to Dolphin Barn Street.
