Circular tanks for removing solids (primarily microbial matter) from the effluent of the aeration basins. The solids settle to the bottom of the tanks and are removed by rotating collectors; part of this sludge is returned to the aeration tanks to maintain the population of microorganisms needed for biodegradation. The clarified water passes to the chlorine contact tanks on its way to being discharged into the Ohio River.
