Conciliation Hall (Dublin)

Ireland / Dublin / Dublin / Burgh Quay (N11)

The former Conciliation Hall was built in 1841 as the headquarters of the Repeal Association, which worked for the repeal of the union between Great Britain and Ireland. On Daniel O'Connell's death in 1847 the association dissolved and the building became a grain warehouse. In 1896 it became the Grand Lyric Hall and later the Tivoli Theatre. In 1930, the building was taken over by the Irish Press who converted it into offices.

  • The image refers to the wrong building. The Conciliation Hall was next door, on the corner of the street, and was demolished at some stage in the 20th century.
