JJ Smyth's (Dublin)

JJ's occupies the site upon which the house stood in which the poet Thomas Moore was born. Described as a 'quaint gabled house', after his death a bust of the poet was placed in a niche over the front door. Modern Dubliners often bemoan the fact that many historic building are being pulled down, however, this is not a new phenomenon, for in 1866 there was an outcry when the gable of the house was removed and the bricks hidden by cement. To add insult to injury, the bust was also removed.
