The City Rooms (Leicester)

United Kingdom / England / Leicester / Hotel Street, 16
 hotel, ballroom, banquet

Built in 1797 (John Johnson) as an hotel and assembly room, in 1817 the building was converted into the judges lodging house during the Assizes. In 1888 the rooms were taken over by the County Council, who used the ballroom for their meetings until 1967 when they moved into the new County Council Headquarters at Glenfield. In 1987 the building came into the possession of the City Council.

After a careful two year restoration and refurbishment project The City Rooms has been brought back to life. Opening its doors once again for business in October 2006, it is now a very popular venue for Conferences and Weddings alike.
