Owned by TransAlta Corporation, it is a combination of two coal-fired plants (which have a total capacity of 1,340 MW) and five natural gas-fired turbines.

It is the only coal-fired power plant in Washington state.

  • At one time there was a coal mine adjacent to the power plant. The coal went from the mine to the power plant without any stops, which made this more efficient than some power plants.
