statue, memorial
Rowan Gillespie sculpted the Famine Memorial in tribute to Ireland's heritage and in remembrance of those who left during the Great Famine of the 1840s. Round the figures are bronze plaques set in the cobble surround, each bearing names of those who have paid 250 euros for the privilege. The life-size bronze memorial was erected in 1997.
