The terminal is located in the port of Itaqui, in Sao Luis, the state capital of Maranhao. The port has the deepest draft in North Brazil (20 m) and is a distribution center for Clean Petroleum Products etc.
The terminal is located just 750 meters from the closest berth, and is connected with 3 piggable jetty lines, incl. one in st. steel, to a total 3 berths. The storage capacity is 55.027 cbm in 28 tanks (ranging from 500 cbm to 4.500 cbm). An expansion of 20.000 cbm will be ready by July 2010. Each tank has a gravity fed dedicated piping to truck loading stations, reducing cargo loss and the possibility for contamination to a minimum.
An efficient rail station links the terminal with the 2 railways in the region; to the West towards Carajas (which rail track is also connected with the so-called North-South Railway), and to the Southeast towards Recife with the Cia. Ferroviaria do Nordeste.
