The outer walls with its short round towers were reconstructed in 1996.

Currently access is limited to the monastery grounds, which now includes the Church of St. Nikita on Shvivaya Hill, beyond the Yauza plus two new churches and holy water chapel. The monastery operates a training program along with a publishing concern and library, all under the auspices of the Mt. Athos Monastery of St. Panteleimon in Greece.
