This is the location of the Zero Milestone for the Old Spanish Trail, an auto trail begun in 1916 in San Diego, California and completed at Saint Augustine, Florida in 1929. This marker was created by the local Exchange Club, and has moved three times to its present location, alongside the visitor's center, where US Route 1 meets State Road A1A. Ironically, the Old Spanish Trail was labeled "Florida State Road 1", until its renumbering in 1945.
