These plantations of trees are part of the original layout of the baroque garden. They are reputably laid out in the shape of the troop formations at the Battle of Blenhiem.

Fought on the 13th August 1704, the Battle of Blenhiem was one of the turning points of the War of the Spanish Succession. The overwhelming Allied victory ensured the safety of Vienna from the Franco-Bavarian army, thus preventing the collapse of the Grand Alliance.
