Elaborate water gardens designed by Achille Duchêne in the early years of the 20th century in the french baroque style. The two pools centre on obelisk fountains. One of these is a 17th century reduced model of the famous "Fountain of the Four Rivers" by Bernini, the other is from the early 20th century.

These gardens were largely paid for by the dowery of the Duke's first wife Consuelo Vanderbilt.

The face of Gladys Deacon, the 9th Duke's second wife, was modeled onto the two sphinxes in the lower Water Terrace.
