Baddegama is one of the pleasant lodges which the river Gin, the spiritual lady finds on her way in search of her beloved husband. At times she peeps and enters the village and makes it wonderful brought and pleasant. But at two men she so violent,shows no merry to the village.
The name Baddegama came in to exist as a result of offering "Rice" to the other neighboring villagers.
It reflects the ancient golden area of this village through a rich agriculture self sufficient process.
Halpathota one of the Grama Sewa division sailed rice to the temple at Thotagamuwa creating this name 'Halpathota' to this village.
This village is of 112.8 square meters in extent, can be divided in to two garrets as semi urban and rural.
There is a population of 77877 in this village, under 70 Grama seva divisions, 5 Samurdhi zones and samurdhi association. They render their service satisfactorily through a mobile service covering all the Grama seva divisions solving the problem at their doorstep.
The management has been decentralize through six executive officers, 27 management officers and other officers attached by the various government departments.
The economic crops in this area such as paddy,tea and cinnamon support the national production immensely.
Not only there, the fruit is grown for the consumption of the villagers as well as the other villagers.
