slaughterhouse / abattoir, meat processing plant
Teifi Park Abbatoir was established in 1956 by Oriel Jones and taken over by Irish meat magnate Dunbia in 2001. It is the largest abbatoir in Wales and the largest lamb processing plant in the United Kingdom, supplying over 1.5 million lambs each year to foreign and domestic markets.
The plant employs 400 workers, 300 of whom are Polish migrants and is the largest employer in Llanybydder. It is perhaps best known however for the unpleasant smell encountered by drivers on the A485 into Llanybydder.
