Lotus Cars is a British manufacturer of sports and racing cars based at the former site of RAF Hethel, a World War II airfield in Norfolk. The company designs and builds race and production automobiles of light weight and fine handling characteristics. It also owns the engineering consultancy Lotus Engineering, which has facilities in the United Kingdom, United States, Malaysia and China.

Lotus was owned by General Motors from 1986 to 1993, after which it was sold to a Luxembourg holding company controlled by Italian businessman Romano Artioli, who also owned Bugatti at the time. In 1996 Lotus was bought by Malaysian car company Proton. Finally, in 2017 Lotus changed hands once again, this time to co-owners Geely Motors of China and Etika Automotive.

Also located on site is the famous test track (the main straightaway of which is an old US Air Force runway).
