HIGHEST PEAK IN THE ENVIRONS OF NAINITAL. ALTITUDE APPROX.2600 MT. The peak was renamed from China peak to Naina peak after the 1962 war with China. The objective seems to be obscure but locals claim that China had made territorial claims up to and including Nainital. There is a sizable local population of Tibetian origin, folks whose presence in the area pre-dates 1962.
