During part of the Second World War, trainloads of doomed deportees en route to the nearby Belzec (Bełżec)Nazi death camp were divided into 20-railcar segments and switched into the camp's spur line by the German stationmaster of Belzec, Rudolf Gockel.

The abandoned locomotive shed still stands; it is among few still-standing buildings associated with the death camp operations.

Sheds behind the locomotive building served as transit warehouses for clothing, hair, and personal property looted from the camp victims. Such goods were first seized at the trackside unloading area in the camp and were then sorted within the Camp I sector.
