The ABC in Hobart was founded in 1932 after radio station 7ZL became a part of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and the original facilities for radio and television presentations were broadcast from ABC House (Now ANZ Centre) in Elizabeth Street, Hobart.
In the late 1970s/early 1980s, the ABC constructed a new studio facility at the site of Hobart's railway terminus, and has operated out of there ever since.
