Dariqa is a very old religious learning center. It was built around 13 century by the then brother of the founder Harar City (the Walled City). Dariqa which means The Path in English is a place were people used to come to learn Islamic religion. The name of the area known as "Sheekh" got its name because of this small village.

  • dariiqo which means the path.dariiqo doesnt exist since 13th centuy but is exist since the 18th century found by an great man called sayid aaden who has learned in mecca and was sent to his country to built an religous community based on ahmadiya (suni)the dariiqo community is one of the oldest community in the country.the dariiqo community is very close to each other,its assumed that its caused because of the memorials they do for there forfathers every year,they do it by having birthmemorials of the prophet(pboh).what also is very special about them is dariiqo includes every clan of somali tribes.the dariiqo community has spread very big along the world and still having connection with their community origin.the founder of dariiqo of sheikh has begun also the dariiqo community in dariiqo of hahi and dariiqo of suuqsade.the other two dariiqo communities did last for long because of less connection between them or the little practise of the mawliid.dariiqo is now more a residential for the elders who are waiting for their returning to allah,every dariiqo community member's wish is that their final destination of life beacme there and that their funeral takes place in dariiqo of sheikh. dariiqo is 10 a 15 minute walking from the local town and 20 minutes from the sheikh mounitain which is very famous of its height and is a passthrough from burco to berbera.
