MASON, a community in Murray County, was named July 20, 1872, was at first called Okcheeda (or Oksida, as in the 1874 Andreas atlas), but in 1879 was renamed in honor of Milo D. Mason, one of its pioneer settlers, who was a mail carrier between Currie and Pipestone. A post office was in section 11, 1890-1900. It has an esimated population of 10.
