Kambala is a big paddy field. During the rainy season, the fields are full of rain water that flows from Mudabidri city. Once the rainy season is over (say October), the 'water channel' (or rain water canal) gets dried and the land can be used to plant paddy plants. The land is fertile due to soil/mud carried by fast flowing water during the rainy season, and thus does not require fertiliser. These fields are called 'patla' in the local language. Kambala is the biggest of these fields and owned by a family that resides in the nearby village called 'Handel'.
