The Chilimo forest is a dry Afro-Montane forest in the West Shoa zone in Dendi Woreda, with an estimated forest cover of about 5,000 ha. The forest is composed of mixed broad leaved coniferous forest. The dominant species in the forest include Juniperus procera, Podocarpus falcatus, Prunus africanum, Olea europaea, and Hagenia abyssinica. The people living in the forest are farmers working with both crops and livestock. According to the 1996 census there are a total of 2,858 households and a total population of 14,118 in the surrounding seven kebeles.

There is also a palace/house of former emperor Haile Selassie.

The forest is maintained in a sustainable manner by the community and is actually a succes story in community sustained forest management.
