Site of the first US-British engagement following the 6-month Valley Forge retreat. This was the first victory for G. Washington after suffering a string of defeats in MD/PA prior to Valley Forge and then witnessing the British occupation of Philadelphia.
Washington attacks the rear column of British troops leaving Philadelphia toward New York.
