Galacha / Berdik

Armenia / Syunik / Verishen /

Galacha (Azerbaijani: Ğalaça) or Berdik (Armenian: Բերդիկ) village is located on the bank of Aghavno / Agoglan river, in the foothills. The settlement is so named because it was built near an Armenian castle on a small hill. Oykonim means "small fortress" in Azerbaijani, and Berdik means "small fortress" in Armenian. Today, the hill where the fortress is located is called "Top Fortress". It came under control of Armey of Self Defence of Artsakh Republic in 1992.
