It is the historic WW2 airfield build during the great world war 2. used by USAF and RAF as an auxiliary of kalaikunda, dudhkundi and dhalbhumgarh airfields. Bombing operations against advance positions of japan in burma took place from here in cordinations of several airfields situated in china. This was the headquarters of 40th bombardment squadern of United States Air Force during the war.
