Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (IATA: CCU, ICAO: VECC) is an airport located in Dum Dum, West Bengal, India, near Kolkata (Calcutta). The civil airport was originally known as Dum Dum Airport before being renamed in the honour of the Bengali Indian patriot Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It has two parallel runways 1-19 L/R, of which the longer one, 1R/19L is used for takeoffs and landings, while the other one is used mostly as a taxiway...
It is located approximately 17 km from the city centre. The airport has three terminals: a domestic terminal (opened in the early 1990s), an international terminal (the oldest terminal) and a cargo terminal.
Recently the airport has been given a facelift, making it one of the better airports in the country.

The airport's new integrated terminal is spread over 233,000 m2 (2,510,000 sq ft) and is able to handle 25 million passengers annually, compared to the previous terminals' capacity of five million.

  • The costoms and Immigration Officers in this Airport are the most corrupted in the world. Please bring the officers from other state. They simply just love to harrash the passanger.
  • Monika and Frédéric will arrive in Feb 2008.... hope the Immigration Officers will behave in a civil and honest manner. First time in India... first impression is very important. Too bad those officers do not realize that. If they love and respect their county, they should practice their religious values. Welcome to Kolkata Monika and Frédéric. You will meet your family at last !!!!
  • We call Immigration Officers and customs officer as little napolion. They think that they are authorized to harrash anybody. There are tens of thousands migrant worker (illeterate) disembark from this eastern city of Kolkata, who are not well versed with the law and order are the victim of these officers.
  • probably the only airport in the world where you cannot come out of the checkout area after checking in...rediculous...but still near home...
  • The den of devil
  • Now slowly every body will send their comments about those idots of customs and immigration officer. They always think that the power is in their hand and they can do anything with it. They don't no mannars,Courtesy. How they handle the foreigners as they are not well versed of english. We think that we are the cursed people born here who can't leave our motherland. We know one day we have to come back here to live with these corrupted officer in our neighbour.
  • This is communist state. All the political flag can hung at airport to show the foreigners that how dirty are we. When can we learn to become civilized citizen? Through out all the rogue old employees and appoint young blood with professionalism.
  • I completely agree with everyone else's comments about the Immigration and Custom officers lack of duty, respect, and ethical value. My family and I had a harrowing experience back in April 2006. I love the city, but these officials need to be educated or replaced.
  • Due to everybody's silence those officer became arogant. Actual matter is when a person comes in they are in the course of long detouch with their family and they become hurry. After passing these problematic personnel just they simply forgive them also forget. In my opinion we should sack them and before appointing somebody, train them through other airport to learn.
  • Is there any authority to complain against the wrong doing of these corrupt Officers? Last time when I visited kolkata, on the return journey the immigration officer informed me that my ECR has expired(which has been cleared 5 years before and I have travelled 4 times after that). He thought that I am illiterate guy, so asked some money to allow me to entry. These are the corrupt officers. Some body should take them to court. Actully we have no time for these basterds.
  • ?
  • The government should take notice of the quality of the immigration offices. I had a tough time at Kolkata airport when travelling to Hong Kong. The immigration official in all his ignorance inssisted that I should show my visa to Hong Kong. I kept trying to explain to him that no visa is needed, he insisted that he knew the rules and a visa for Hong kong is required. I have visited Hoong Kong at least 50 times and showed him my passport with all the entry stamps for hong kong. Surely the immigration department should have manuals or papers with countries that do not require visas
  • omg it's so creepy. i plan to go to Kolkata and knowing this infos makes me little stressful :( what can i dooo
  • It's 2014 those officers are dead by now. XD
  • nice pice
