  • Nakodu is situated along the coast of the island,in the olden days, there is a lighthouse situated on the top of the hill, namely Muaitaquva.Sailors used that point during the day and lighthouse by night to lead them from the Lau Group, especially Vanua Balavu or from Taveuni,or from Suva ,on their way to the Lau group. It's the second biggest village in the island, about four hundred villagers, the village chief is a woman,Adi Laisa Beci.Their are five clan in the village, and the Turaga ni koro, called Peni Tukana. Many of the villagers living in the urban areas, ten of their children are member of the British Forces. One of their son ,is the first fijian to be the member of the Queen Alexander Royal Army Nursing Corps(QARANC)from the HM Armed Forces. I would like to thank the people, member of my families in the village and abroad for their supports.

  • Namacu is the smallest land owning unit of the island and with its christian history, the village ever since become the icon of the island christian expansion. Undoubtedly, the graciousness of the Tui Nako and the Tui Nadakeke shaped the new identity of the Butoni people to its present village of Namacu. Arguably, all villages along this coast known as the Qali vaka Bau which reflects their interconnectedness since the per-christian era until the postmodern Fiji. God bless Qali Vakabau and the people of Koro.
