  The people of Nasau originated from the Hill-tribes of VitiLevu as evidence in the name Nasau which is found throughout Vitilevu and the islands. The people of Nasau left Vitilevu to inhabit the isalnds - they are found on the islands of Koro, Moce, Kadavu, Moturiki. The name Nasau can be found in families, tokatoka, mataqali and yavusa through out the country. There are related names like Nasautoka, Nasauvuki, Nasaunivalu, and the like. The Tui Nasau on Koro Island however, originated from the chiefly island of Bau as a warrior of the High Chief of the islnad. People of Nasau, Koro, today are high achievers in various fields. On average the village boasts a total of about 30+ undergraduate and post graduate degree holders. Politically a son of the village was The Speaker of the House of Representatives and also a Minister of Finance - The Late Honourable Mr Mosese Qionibaravi. The Honorable Simione Kaitani a Minster of the Qarase Government was another son of our beloved Nasau. Two High School Principals of the country are also from Nasau. Besides there are numerous others holding posts of responsibilites in both the public and private sectors.

  There is also atribe in moala island call NASAU and the current head of the tribe is Rev.Tuikilakila Waqairatu.The tribe have its origins in Viti Levu.The tribe members addres the people of Naitasiri, Tailevu,Ra -MATAQALI to indicate the blood ties.Rev.Tuikilakila is the current TUI NASAU in Moala Island.
