  • Carolina Bays are landforms oriented northwest to southeast formed by strong wind action on water in shallow depressions. The origin(s) of the depressions is a matter of debate. There are hundreds of thousands from NJ to FL but they are most numerous and most sharply defined in the Carolinas.
