 dam, hydroelectric power station/plant

The dam and power station was built between 1938-44. It is equipped with two Kaplan turbines with output of 11,25MW each. The reservoir capacity is 11,3 millions cubic metres. Its main purpose is to balance the runoff from the Slapy hydroelectric power station.
The dam is concrete with granite facing, 22.5m high and 120m long with five spillways.
The spillways has a theoretic capacity 2,400 cubic metres per second, nevertheless the dam survived without major damage even the floodings in august 2002 when the flow rate was 3,150 cubic metres per second (the ordinary flow rate is about two hundred cubic meters per second, by way for illustration).
The power station (together with the pumped-storage hydroelectric power station Stechovice II) includes an outdoor 110 kV switching station and outgoing and distribution transformers.
