    Luved this place...had spent my best years here......had moved out of this place when i was in the 8th grade..I have vivid memories...some of my best friends here were Monish,Joel,Pravin,Goldy,The Singh Brothers,chintu,etc.....wish i could get in touch with these guys.....

    I grew up here between 1973 ~ 1993. It was beautiful and pristine considering how the rest of Mumbai was ... an oasis of peace which unfortunately did not last very long. I especially remember being surrounded by mango trees all in full bloom, and buying a tokri (basket) of 100 green Alphonso mangoes (they would be encased in straw to allow ripening) for 100 rupees. Mumbai was made worthwhile for me because of LIC Colony.

    Yes, the place is nice. A lot of trees and birds have made their home on these trees. Stray dogs howing in the dead of night. Truly different place away from the city's mad crowds. Heard the old buildings are going to be re-developed. Hope they will keep the serene natural surroundings intact, as did LIC while building in 1972 or so.
