There are 22 Protective Aircraft Shelters (PAS) on the Ghedi base, 11 of which are equipped with WS3 Vaults for nuclear weapons storage. The vaults, which have a maximum capacity of 44 weapons, were completed in 1997. Prior to that, nuclear weapons were stored in the Weapons Storage Area. The base stores 40 B61 nuclear bombs for delivery by Italian Tornados of 6th Stormo Wing’s 102nd and 154th squadrons.
