Solo/North Astrolabe Reef

Solo Reef, also known as North Astrolabe Reef, lies just to the north of Dravuni Island in the Great Astrolabe Reef. According to tradition, Solo Reef is the locale of a formerly inhabited island which submerged. Fishermen from Dravuni respect the memory of the drowned islanders by not throwing rubbish overboard.

I believe this is also the location of a lighthouse to warn the passing ships of the presence of the Great Astrolabe reefs. I remember sailing past these idealic reefs and islets back in the early 50s, and I bet, they are just as beautiful now!
