  • natanggal yung ulo ni Balagtas (monument) dati kasi isang bagong taon in the 80's may naglagay ng LPG tank sa gitna ng rotonda para pasabugin on New Year's eve. galing no?

  • hindi, balita noon ninakaw daw pure tanso kasi. ganda noon lalo na nuoong bagong gawa pa. they have concerts there too during special occassions. missed those days. malinis and they even showed it as part of bagong lipinan videos in theaters. gagalangin is really beautiful then lal na during thr pre war eras according to mu lola. i was born and grew up there. tondo boy pero gagalagnin bred.
  • just to add i used to go to a small public library at the corner of tecson and fernandez street. below it is the barbershop i used to get my hair cut. they have good old books at the library. they should build a new one for the kids in the neighborhood. calling all baranngay chairman and kagawad. this is a good project to spend efforts and money.
  • matagal ng wala ang gagalngin public library near rotonda. na refurbish na rin ang rotonda under the buhayin ang maynila program of then mayor lito atienza. lots of memories here too. this is a civic/religious/social nucleus of gagalangin. gagalangin was once called the forbes park of manila. well planned street network. very filipino in design manifested in the callejons. d b gusto ng mga pinoy lagi magkakalapit at magkakadikit bahay? gagalangi is also blessed with beautiful turn of he century and post war houses
  • gone are the barbershop under the public library and a number of well structured residential houses. Some of the 2-3 apartment buildings are starting to dilapidate. A number of meditteranean inspired houses have risen in the area. Anybody remember the residence with large kalachuchi tree at the corner of cavite and yangco sts? It has been torn down just last year, and the tree went along with it. Now they have this new structure housing a parlor and a hardware store... good old gagalangin, doesn't look and feel good anymore.
