abandoned / shut down, sugar refinery, ghost town

The Bryant Sugar House opened in 1962, as sugar cane processing factory. The factory "town", called Bryant, was designed for an initial grinding rate of 5500 TCD to process 92,900 tons of sugar per cane crop. It was created for the U.S. Sugar Corporation. It closed down in mid-2007, and U.S. Sugar now plans on using the area as a rail yard, after the equipment becomes sold.
