Manzshir Monastery is located on the south side of the Bogd Khan Mountain National Park in Tuv aimag. It is about one hours drive from Ulaanbaatar.
It was established in 1733 with 20 temples and 300 monks, but destroyed in 1932 by communists. The only remaining temple is a replica of the original, and houses a museum at the site tells the story of the monastery.
The other buildings in the area remain in ruins, but you can see what the foundations, steps, and doorways.
