  Tasgaon , was established by Shrimant Parashurambhau PATWARDHAN , the then chief of army in Peshava REGIME.During his battels with TIPU sULTAN IN sOUTH ,HE SAW THE BEAUTIFUL GOPURS AND WOODEn Rath.Parashurambhau built the Ganesh Panchayatan-ganesh,VISHNU,sHANKAR,sURYA& aMBABAI Temple.He also built 100feet high Gopur in front of Temple.He built a 30 feethigh wooden Rath which is pulled by the Ganesh devotees on next day of Bhadrapat Chaturthi when thousands of people gather to celebrata this auspisius occasion.this tradition is being cotinued since 1785.The swords of Parashurambhau are kept in temple.Also his sword is available in the mandir of Biradsiddh at Kawathe Ekand , 6 Km from Tasgaon. He had built his fortified palace in Tasgaon.He constructed Ghat on river Krishna at Bhilavadi,10 Km from tasgaon.He died on the battle field at Pattankudi on 17th September 1799.Salute to this brave & constructive personalty.
