Yes, this is the name of a small village of about 150 inhabitants in northern Austria. It was formally pronounced ['fuking]. As of January 1, 2021, the village will officially be known as Fugging.

  • Just in case soe people are worried: The village is known to have existed as “Fucking” since at least 1070 and is named after a man from the 6th century called Focko. “Ing” is an old Germanic suffix meaning “people”; thus Fucking, in this case, means “place of Focko’s people” (from the Wikipedia entry)
